Today's challenge is to write a blog post in a list format. This post is supposed to be about something I'm an "expert" at. Hmmn. Let me think...well, seeing as Ive been doing a lot of shopping as of late, I think Ill write about my "favorite things" a la Oprah. Read on.
My New Favorite Things
1) Nordstrom's: Ok, so this isn't technically "new" as Ive loved this store for a long time. Their selection is nice, and their customer service is fabulous. Well, now I'm loving their website and how its "interactive" ie, I can return ish from the site to the store, saving me the time and expense of going to the post office. Yea!
And they carry sooo many things! In fact, they carry some of my other favorite things....
2) Dresses: They're easy peasy to put on, and make one look so feminine and dressy at the same time! Last year, I was turned on to dresses by Calvin Klein. I was searching Nordstroms' website for a dress to wear to my friends wedding. That was my first Calvin Klein. That dress fit so perfectly, and got so many compliments, so that I jumped at the chance to buy more. At this time, I have four Calvin Klein dresses, and Im on the lookout for more.
Another designer Ive come to love is Andrea Papell. The dress I wore on my birthday was by her. And doesn't it look great?
Ok, the pose isn't fabulous, but you get the drift.
3) The Jane Carter Solution: As some of my long-time readers know, Ive been trying a variety of hair care products out, to see which one(s) would be good for my natural hair. Well, so far, the big winner is the line from the Jane Carter Solution. I haven't tried the shampoos and conditioners yet, but I have tried a variety of their styling products. I first tried the Wrap & Roll with the Revitalizing Leave-In Conditioner for a twist-out, and I was left with shiny, smooth, well-defined waves. That style didn't last that long, because my hair is just strange like that, especially in the humidity of a DC summer. Then I tried the Condition & Sculpt for a wash-and-go style. I got shiny, well-defined curls that lasted for a few days. I also purchased the Nourish & Shine, which I LOVE! It leaves my hair sooo soft and shiny and curly too! And it smells great!
I'm definitely planning on trying more of this line's products. Like the Hair Nourishing Cream. Ive talked with one other person about this line, and I can tell you, it isn't for everyone. Most of these products are relatively "light" so they might not work with someone with very thick, very kinky hair. But on my frizzy, fuzzy, cotton-ball-hair?? Works rather well.
4) My new Lands' End Canvas Bag: I used to have a vintage one, but it got too old, so I bought myself another one! This one is a lot larger than I intended, but I still love it. Is cream and has pink trim and monogram (yeah I went there). Because its so over sized, I can carry just about any and everything in there! Toiletries and a change of clothing if I want to go to the Korean bathhouse. Wallet, makeup kit and my 15-inch laptop if I'm going to iNternet elsewhere. I mean, it does it all! And yeah, it probably does look a wee bit preppy/douchy, but I'm emotionally ok with that.
5) My iPod Nano. Yeah, yeah, I know I'm about 7 years too late with this, but hey, its still one of my favorite new things! Honestly, I never thought Id need one of these, and now I find that I'm having problems functioning without it. I uploaded my entire CD collection onto it. And Ive spent goo-goo-gobs of money on iTunes add more ish. And I know I'm not done. I just got into Podcasts today. And even though I love my iPod Nano, part of me still wishes I got the iPod Touch. Yeah, this thing is addictive.
So, those are some of my new "favorite things". What are your thoughts on the above? And what kinds of discoveries have you made recently? Let us know!

Love that you did a favorite things post, it was great. I recently had to retire my ipod nano. It stop charging. So I purchase an ipod touch for my birthday. If you really was an touch (they are so cool) make it a gift to yourself.
OMG! I truly picked the right post to comment on!!
I absolutely LOVE Nordstrom's! I feel as if I am in the upper echelon just walking into the store! And don't let me walk out with a bag! LOL I love their twice a year shoe sale! *drool*
I live in Texas so being cool is a must, as a result, I LIVE in dresses this time of year. I think the last time I wore pants was sometime last Tuesday. LOL I get my dresses from: Macy's, Dress Barn, and Dillard's.
I too have natural hair and I have been wondering about the Jane Carter line...I think you have convinced me to give it a try!
Great post!
NIce to meet you Lola!
Funny... I've just discovered Nordstrom's as my department store of choice. And since I just did the big chop 3 weeks ago, you've got me curious about the Jane Carter Solution. My iPod nano holds the music memories that are near and dear to my heart (old school hip-hop all the way).
Maybe you'll inspire me to rock a few dresses... I really need to work on that because the DC heat/humidity has become unbearable.
Blog on!
Tanya

@Tanya Well, thanks for stopping by! And Ive been feeling really bad because I have taken a few pics after I used Jane Carter Solution products, but I forgot to use them in this post! That hairstyle in the black dress was a twist-out after I used the leave-in conditioner and the wrappng/setting lotion. I think it came out great.
But do come back as Ill post the wash-and-dry pics too!

I'm hating because we don't have a Nordstrom's in MS. But I am guilty of going to their site & doing a little browsing from time to time.
The dress in your picture is great! I'm just getting back into dresses; I forgot how easy they are! No matching... just slip on & go. Great for lazy days like today!
I've never heard of Jane Carter products, but thank you for mentioning them. I'll be looking into them.
Could be the GREATEST page I read this week :)
My cousin recommended this blog and she was totally right keep up the fantastic work!
