Todays selection isnt that manic, but it is a song Id been meaning to blog about this summer. This song will always be a summertime song for me as I was first introduced to it in the summer of 1990. Its very peppy, upbeat, and seems to affirm young womanhood.
(yeah, imma make that phrase work, lol)
The artist is important as well. This artist not only put female artists on the map, she's continued to defy the rules and break the molds that young, Black, female artists are sometimes confined to.
I have always loved this song, and have it on my ipod. If you live in the DC area, if you ever see me with dancing in public, its most likely to this tune, lol.
